5 songs to add to your study playlist
It’s that time of the year for college kids: finals season. I personally have only three weeks left of legitimate classes before finals week, and it’s reached that point in the semester where all of my due dates are quickly approaching. It’s like the last lap in Mario Kart when the music gets really fast and all the items are thrown at you with reckless abandon and you’re just trying to cross the finish line.
To help all my fellow college students make it through this grueling time in our lives, here are five songs to add to your study playlist.
1. “College Kids” by This Wild Life
All of This Wild Life’s discography makes great studying music (it’s so calming!), but this song is just so appropriate because of the title. The entirety of the album Petaluma is worth listening to for study purposes, though.
2. “Saving Grace (Acoustic)” by The Maine
Again, the entirety of The Maine’s acoustic album Less Noise: A Collection of Songs by a Band Called the Maine makes great studying music, but this one is my favorite. “Saving Grace” is a forgotten classic from The Maine’s album Black and White, so I appreciate them revisiting this gem.
3. "Coffee Break" by Forever the Sickest Kids
College kids are fueled by caffeine most of the time, but finals week really amps things up, so this is another titularly appropriate pick. Plus, Forever the Sickest Kids slaps, and I think they’re too slept on.
4. "Paquerette (Without Me)" by With Confidence
Every album needs a good soft bop, and this is my favorite soft bop off of With Confidence’s sophomore album Love and Loathing. It’s sad and angsty and makes great studying music.
5. "I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)" by The 1975
Yes, this title is a little dramatic, but this is how I feel during finals week. And it’s The 1975! They can do no wrong! This is the closing song from their third album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, and it’s arguably the best track they’ve ever written (I am the one arguing this).
