9 new music releases worth checking out today
Here are some of this week's new music and video releases worthy of your attention.
Fun Fact: One thing people may not know about the Foo Fighters is that their 1995 debut self-titled album was entirely written and recorded by Dave Grohl alone. After the breakup of Nirvana, Grohl recorded the album's songs in a week, playing all the instruments himself. He then recruited a band to tour and support the album, which led to the formation of the Foo Fighters as a full-fledged band.
Now for the new releases.
This week, the music scene sees some fresh releases worthy of a listen. From emerging artists to mainstay icons, let’s dive into the latest tracks making waves in the world of alternative music (with maybe some other genres sprinkled in), and maybe you’ll end up finding a few of your next favorite tunes. So in no particular order, let's get right into it.
Pale Waves - “Perfume”
Pale Waves has announced that their new album Smitten will be released on September 20th. It’s about time! I’ve been craving some new Pale Waves music since their 2022 album Unwanted nearly topped my Top Albums list for that year. This is some welcomed news.
Delilah Bon - “Evil, Hate Filled Female”
This is the title track from Delilah Bon’s upcoming album which is due out on September 13th.
Jelly Roll - “I Am Not OK”
This looks to be the first of more new music coming our way. In an April interview with Audacy, Jelly Roll said we could expect some “crazy” collaborations on the way, including some non-country collabs. We featured him in last week’s New Music issue where he collabed with Falling In Reverse in what seems to be the perfect blend of hard rock and country. For what it’s worth, when it comes to collabs, and with his rapping experience, I’d love to see Jelly Roll and Eminem hook up on a track.
robbietheused – “Just a Little Bit”
I know we’ve already featured this song in past New Music issue, but Bert McCracken has released the music video for his debut solo project song “Just a Little Bit”.
phem - “donuts”
phem releases the new tune ahead of her upcoming UK tour opening up for Avril Lavigne.
Laura Jane Grace - “I’m Not A Cop”
The Home Team - “Walk This World With Me”
The band’s upcoming full-length album The Crucible Of Life is set to land July 12 via Thriller Records.
RedHook + Alpha Wolf - “Cannibal”
Meet Me @ The Altar - “Sucker” (Jonas Brothers cover)
That’ll do it for this week! Happy listening.
Let me know in the comments what your favorite release of the week is. I would love to hear your thoughts.
That Laura Jane Grace song though ... so good!!
