First off, Bury The Darkness never disappoints when it comes to song writing. They are a band that comes to impress not only instrumentally but lyrically as well. Fans are always in for a good surprise when a new song comes out.
"Obey" shows the band's ability in strong vocals and work them in beautifully with the melody of the song. From the first listen, I instantly fell in love with this song. I found myself getting goosebumps several times throughout the song. While "Obey" may be an anti-authoritative song by stating: "fuck authority you can't control me" and "obey follow what they say, betray", it's easily relatable for fans regardless of age or even stage in life.
The line I felt was most relatable in my life:
"Fuck you, I will do it my way!”
I feel that this live an easily be relatable to anyone who has ever felt or even told that they would never be "enough". This line shows the power of, "Watch me succeed and do it my way, you can't control me". I believe it also has the awesome remainder of live dreams. These dreams are yours to live and not someones else's, which honestly I need the reminder of often.
Overall, I will admit "Obey" can be found on a couple of my playlists and has been on repeat since its release. I can't wait to see what Bury the Darkness has in store for fans during 2023. Hopefully we can see them touring and playing "Obey" live in the near future.
