“This album is the story about finding hope when there feels like there is none. It is a classic hero’s journey in which our main character Kai is swept away from his planet Elswaer and taken on an adventure. He joins The Nova Children on their quest to find The Flame and defeat the evil New Order. This album inspects how it feels to fight for good and light when all feels it is in darkness. The songs are an introspection into the universe we’ve created, but even more so it is an illustration of our feelings living in our own dark world. In many ways this album is in response to the government, covid, and many other tumultuous world events. This is how we coped during this difficult time. We decided to tell a story. Welcome to Elswaer."

Designer Disguise is a band that comes out to impress in everything they do.
Designer Disguise has such an amazing ability to create unique music for their fans. All while keeping a sense of familiarity that their fans are use too. Elswaer, does just that and is another perfect example of the band's talent. From the start of the album sucks you right in on the journey with their opening song "Corrupted Cyborg". For those who know me, I'm a big sucker for anything space, spacey sounds/vibes, and this song did just that. This song is one you can easily find yourself bobbing your head along to the beat.
"Corrupted Cyborg" sets the whole vibe for the record.
"Lifeline", is the 4th song of the record may be my favorite. Lyrically this song stood from the first listen and gave major goosebumps. Another key point, "Lifeline" does a beautiful job of reminding you that regardless of the struggle, when the time is right/you are ready you will find that new focus. The lyrics that stood out the most were:
"I know, I know I can't keep living this way. I've been waiting for something to change. No more will they kick me around. Was lost but I found a new focus to channel my rage"
“Everyday is a New Nightmare, But It All Feels the Same” is the 5th song and gave me a very similar reaction as "Lifeline". Lyrically this song is easily to relate with along with a catchy beat. Lyrics that stood out from this song and easily can be related to are:
"The things we want to run from are those we can't escape"
"Stardust" is the final and 10th song of the album and completes the album perfectly. "Stardust" gives fans a beautiful reminder of the importance of learning from mistakes to break a cycle that may have us stuck.
"Learn from your mistakes. Fix this mess we made. Power to makes us whole. And break the cycle"

Elswaer is an album that fans will easily relate to from the start. I highly encourage you given this album a try. Album Rating: 8/10 Lastly, I know this song may not be on the album, I feel that it still needs an honorable mention, "Get Low". With 250K streams in the past month stemming from TikTok, "Get Low", is a cover we never knew we needed, till it was made. Honestly, it would be a lie if I didn't admit to dancing around the house or playing this song up loud in the school pick up line. Designer Disguise's cover is gonna help earn this girl "Badass Mom of the Year" or maybe just most likely NOT to become PTO president. You may also like: All Punked Up’s 2022 Albums Of The Year
