Go:Audio return after a decade - exclusive interview
London-based pop/rock band, Go:Audio were the soundtrack of 2009 and beyond for many, especially in the UK. A decade later, they're back on the scene and we're excited to have an exclusive with them, following their recent comeback.
Keep up with Go:Audio on social media!
Welcome back Go:Audio! You last put out an album in 2009, featuring the iconic tracks, "Made Up Stories" and "She Left Me" - what have you guys been up to over the last 11 years? You've been missed!
Too kind! What haven’t we been up to . . . it’s been a crazy decade. Songwriting, producing, managing - the works! Everything except pumping the bogs at festivals - although that does sound like a challenge.
For newcomers, can you describe your sound and your main influences?
Synth infused pop rock. Back in the day we always listened to bands like Jimmy Eat World and All American Rejects.
When you popped up on Twitter and Instagram, fans were going crazy. What does it mean to you, that fans have such a nostalgic connection with your music and that the support for you has not changed?
It was quite daunting putting out new music after being away for so long, so it’s really nice to have such a positive reaction. We always had incredible fans so it is good to see some of them still loving the tunes.
What are your favourite memories from the Made Up Stories days?
Touring and playing our songs every night and hearing them sung back to us was always special. Being on the road was always wild and we have great memories of it.
You released your new single, "Why" this month, how are you feeling?
“Why" was always one of our favourite songs and we had a lot of people messaging us asking for us to put it out, so it’s nice to finally get it out for people to enjoy.
Can we expect another album on the horizon and a tour (when it's safe again)?
Never rule anything out . . .
You recently posted a throwback photo on Instagram with Niall Horan - what's the story there?
Josh wrote a song which made it onto the first One Direction album and Niall knew of Go:Audio which was cool, James then bumped into him at a 5SOS show, hence the photo, cool guy!
What bands have you been listening to in lockdown?
Us, just us.
Is there anything else you want to say to All Punked Up readers?
Thanks for all your support! Come say hi on our Instagram, Twitter and more importantly go check out our tunes on Spotify/Apple Music. More tracks are on the way so get your nostalgic hats on . . .
