grandson is back with new single "Something To Hide"
Alt-rocker, grandson, has returned with a brand new single titled "Something To Hide". It's the third single off his forthcoming album I Love You, I'm Trying which is due out on May 5th via Fueled by Ramen.
The song is a heartfelt recount of the artist's childhood, exploring the struggles he faced as a young person, and is accompanied by electrifying riffs and a high-energy drop. With his most vulnerable songwriting to date, I Love You, I'm Trying promises to be a deep dive into the mind of a creative force that is often emotionally fragile and unstable.
On the track, grandson says: "Everyone has something to hide. Growing up as the youngest child, I would watch my family navigate alcoholism, eating disorders and job loss, through euphemism and hushed tones to insulate me from what was going on."
Check out the song below.
Grandson has previously tackled big social and political issues with his platinum-certified songs. However, his new album is a more personal reflection on his mental health, self-harm, and family traumas that he has long kept hidden.
“I’m painting the intimate portrait of myself I know how – covering themes of self harm, family trauma, the hidden side of life on the road, and so much more,” grandson says of the album. “This is the album that 16 year old me needed. This is the album I was scared to write and the album fans of mine deserve to hear. Above all this is the album where I face a big question: can I handle the changes life throws at me, and if this all that there is to life, can it be enough to be happy?”
