Why Hasn't Tom DeLonge Acknowledged Blink-182's Grammy Nomination?
Sunday, February 12th was a special day for Blink-182. For the first time in the band’s existence, they were nominated for ‘Best Rock Album’ at the 2017 Grammy's for their latest album California. The album took the number one spot on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums list over Drake’s Views for nine weeks. Such an album was worthy of a nomination, but apparently not the Grammy. The trio ended up losing to Cage The Elephant and their album Tell Me I’m Pretty. Despite the loss, it was a very special moment for the band and their history. Not even their best selling album Enema of The State received Grammy recognition, even though they sold over five million units in the United States and 15 million+ worldwide. However, with their notable achievement, they didn’t receive any comment from their original member, Tom DeLonge. Tom left the band in January of 2015 and was replaced by Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. Tom’s twitter was a ghost town. No personal tweets or any recognition in regards of his former band, just retweets from his band Angels and Airwaves and their Valentine's Day sales. His Instagram was basically the same, except he was promoting his collection of books that he’s been writing, headlining conspiracies and other literature.

But, why? Why is there no acknowledgment towards the band who’s made him so successful? As he’s claimed before, there’s no bad-blood and that he thinks about them everyday. If that were the case, he would have certainly said something. There’s no doubt that he heard about their nomination, as it's been a pretty big topic in the California area. Maybe it’s jealousy, or maybe it's the fact that he’s completely moved on and determined to focus on his other projects. Either way, it’s definitely strange that he seemingly doesn’t care about the band’s achievements without him in the spotlight as lead guitarist. Contributed by Johnny Aubs | @Johnaubert97
