In Her Own Words releases 'Distance or Decay' - album review
From Los Angeles, American rock band, In Her Own Words, comes a brand new album: Distance or Decay, and it's a record to remember. You can stream the album below! Lead vocalist, Joey Fleming, describes the album as. "....a summation of emotions when going through the motions of an ephemeral relationship; be it friendship, family, or romantic. The first half of the album is the “Distance” portion, touching on feelings of angst, hopelessness, and question." Fleming continued about the new record, "The second half of the album is the “Decay” portion, touching on feelings of release, relinquish, and heartbreak. We hope this album can touch people’s hearts in the way it touches ours." You can catch the band live on a summer tour supporting bands Tiny Moving Parts and This Wild Life.

In Her Own Words releases Distance or Decay - album review
Distance or Decay, not only features an array of raspy vocals that fit perfectly amongst the bands aggressive tones, but also features the evolution of In Her Own Words' sound throughout their careers. I believe this album will be found on many road trip playlists and the anthem for our summer! The album starts off with the banger "Circles" featuring Derek DiScanio of State Champs giving the vibe for the rest of the album. This song brings back all the nostalgic sounds of the early pop punk bands and getting ready for Warped Tour. "One Thing You Should Know", instantly gave me chills. The lyrics of this song can hit right at home for those who have been going through struggles. Lyrics such as " Bottle up the message until you learn the lesson" to "There's just one thing you should know You can always come back home." gives the wonderful reminder that no matter how heavy life can be, one day you'll be back again, and no longer lost. The album closes with track "Footprints" featuring Sierra Annie, land left it on a beautiful acoustic note. To me leaving on a serene acoustic note pulls all the feelings and emotions the band wanted everyone to experience.
