It’s Grayscale’s World and We’re All Just Living In It
Y’all know Grayscale, right? The five-piece pop-punk band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania? Signed to Fearless Records? Released two full-length albums? The best band on the planet?
Ok, now that we’re all on the same page, let me just say that this is Grayscale’s world. We are all truly just living in their world.
In the last three years, I have watched them carve out their very unique place in the alternative music world, and I don’t think they have any competition.
They have released two impeccable albums. In 2019, a year with new albums by Set It Off, Sleeping With Sirens, Bring Me the Horizon, Waterparks, and (my personal heroes) The Maine, I can confidently say that Grayscale’s album Nella Vita is the album of the year. I can find no flaw in it.
They have toured constantly over the last few years. They’ve played shows with As It Is, Real Friends, The Maine, State Champs, just to name a few. They did the last full Warped Tour run. They just wrapped their first headlining tour in support of Nella Vita. They stay booked and busy.
And Grayscale has the strongest merch game in the history of merchandising. No one else does what they do! They consistently come through with these sick designs and quality products. They basically have their own clothing line.
Don’t even get me started on their 2019 Black Friday merch drop. It’s insane. Those custom Vans? Come on, y’all! The level they’re currently at is untouchable.
Aside from the music and the merch, though, the Grayscale guys are just really nice people. They have such authentic fan interactions, and it has helped them amass a loyal audience. I’ve never heard anyone say a bad thing about them. And after every show when they’re the openers, you better believe that they’ve gained a room full of new fans.
Even though I'm saying that we're living in Grayscale’s world, I know it’s not actually true (yet).
In reality, I live in a music bubble. I curate my social media feeds to reflect my interests, so I’m only seeing news of pop-punk of alternative or rock music. So what I’m exposed to and the music I’m finding aren’t indicative of the bigger picture.
Unfortunately, pop culture is relatively unaware of how amazing our music scene is. Thankfully, though, there are some outliers. We have Green Day. We have Fall Out Boy. We have Panic! at the Disco. All of these artists represent a glimmer of hope that alternative music can make a larger impact outside of our small music bubble.
I think Grayscale can be one of those artists.
I truly believe that their song “YOUNG” has the ability to shake the world.
Grayscale can shake the world.
They have great music, great merch, great personalities. They have everything they need to make it to that next level. They just need a little time.
So just give it time. In a few years, Grayscale is going to be running the show.
Long story short, Grayscale is poised to take over this entire planet, and I can’t wait to watch their meteoric rise continue. They deserve the success.
