K.Flay drops new song, announces album 'MONO'
K.Flay, a two-time Grammy nominee, has announced her upcoming album 'MONO' through the release of her new single, "SHY". The song follows the release of her lead single, "Raw Raw". On the origins of the song, K.Flay explains that she wrote "SHY" after meeting her now-girlfriend and feeling a personal attachment to the song.
“In my music, I’m so comfortable being loud and brazen, but in my personal life, I can be a bit shy. Especially when it comes to romantic relationships. I wrote this song after I’d just met my (now) girlfriend.
“And I sent it to her out of the blue. I guess I only know how to flirt through songs. It worked though.”
K.Flay named the 14-track album 'MONO' after her personal experience of losing the hearing in her right ear due to SSNHL, a rare medical condition, and Labyrinthitis. This condition forced her to cancel her tour and contemplate giving up music, but instead, she persevered and created 'MONO', which she considers to be her most experimental and realized studio album to date.
K.Flay's new album 'MONO' is scheduled for release on September 15. Check out the music video "SHY" below.
