Mod Sun addresses break-up with Avril Lavigne on new track "Strangers"
Mod Sun has released his latest single "Strangers," which seemingly explores the lessons learned from his failed engagement with Avril Lavigne. Filmed in Paris, the city where he proposed, the video captures the emotional weight of their relationship while the song's lyrical content reflects on the journey from once being strangers to becoming lovers only to turn back into strangers again.
“I remember loving you before we ever met / Saw you on the TV and I met you through a friend / Then I started talking to you on the internet / Went from strangers, to lovers, to strangers again”
"Strangers" noticeably touches on the ups and downs of their time together, including the conflicts and the hidden truths that eventually led to their separation. The lyrics, Just a couple weeks and I’m already moving in/Lying to each other while we’re lying in your bed/Guess it really did go up in flames in the end, say it all and allude to the former couple's collaboration on "Flames," hinting that their connection undeniably ended in flames.
This release marks Mod Sun's return to music since his album God Save the Teen and serves as his first acknowledgment of the breakup which happened in February 2023.
