New Found Glory's latest album 'Make The Most Of It' is exactly what everyone needed -- album review (without spoilers!)
Emo veterans New Found Glory are gearing up to drop their latest acoustic album Make The Most Of It this Friday, January 20th. You can check out the latest single from the record below.
In this unique record, New Found Glory has lined up 7 new songs written after guitarist Chad Gilbert's cancer diagnoses. The band also included 7 live acoustic versions of some of their most popular tracks. “I didn’t want this to be the ‘cancer record’ originally,” Gilbert admits. “But when we went on tour and people started hearing the story and connecting to it, I gave up on trying to control the narrative. Not all bands are dealt these cards, but we were. Let’s take these songs and help the disease get awareness and raise money for a cause that’s working on education and research for my rare cancer.” Fans can pre-save Make The Most Of It here. New Found Glory's latest album 'Make The Most Of It' is exactly what everyone needed
Whether you are an old-time fan or somewhat new to New Found Glory, this record will speak to you. The raw emotion and heart in these songs is enough to make you cry while you're singing the lyrics at the top of your lungs. As Chad said, his story of cancer is one people want to connect to and use as hopeful inspiration. Plus, the ability to use his story and the band to raise awareness and funding is priceless. Make The Most Of It emphasizes New Found Glory's maturity and expertise as a band. With diverse guitar melodies and soft vocals, the true passion of the tracks comes to light. While I have always loved New Found Glory, it is so refreshing to hear this side of them. "Watch The Lilies Grow" is probably my favorite track on the album.
"All I've accomplished in my life now feels meaningless compares to you. If I lost to this sickness, I'd still smile in heaven cause I'd watch you grow and send signals."
These lyrics encompass the feelings of someone going through a life-threatening situation. It really helps those of us who've watched someone struggle with a severe illness find peace in their situation and in their passing. It's that message that our loved ones can give us while their living that gets us through life without them. Plus, the guitar melody is just absolutely beautiful. My favorite acoustic rendition is definitely "All Downhill From Here." The song just hits differently in its acoustic, soft-spoken form. You can stream the album everywhere starting Friday, January 20th. Let us know what you think about the singles & the album in the comments below!
