News you may have missed! (10/21/19)
The scene is making a comeback, Cassadee Pope/Hey Monday news and a new Simple Creatures video
What’s up, everyone! This week, my segment of Random Thoughts… is back! To be honest, I kind of forgot about this part of the newsletter lately as I’ve been busy with our store. But hey, it’s back. And this week I basically ask the question: Is the scene making a comeback?
Quick update: You may remember a couple of week’s ago that we launched our very own mini-music awards. We thought since MTV didn’t represent Rock all that well at their music awards show, we thought we’d do our best to represent perhaps the best category in music. We had voting all last week and we should be releasing those numbers next week!
But until then, let’s get to the news you may have missed from this past week.

Random Thoughts…
Is the scene making a comeback?
I haven’t written for this segment of the newsletter in quite some time, but over the past two weeks I’ve noticed something.
We all know that pop punk has faded from radios over the past years. Pop Punk was in it’s prime back in the early 2000’s for sure, but it’s been pretty nonexistent during the 2010’s.
I’ve had conversations recently with some of my writers about the state of pop punk and the rock genre specifically. We talked about why it doesn’t get recognition and how it seems to take a backseat to Rap and Pop, and has done so for quite some time now.
What came out of those discussions was the belief that Rock will come around. Rock will get it’s turn again as the top dog. And perhaps, it could be starting now.
Above, I mentioned I’ve noticed something over the past two weeks. I’ve noticed that one band from the scene we love to cover has hit a main Sirius XM channel called Hits 1. It’s basically your typical Top 40 songs radio station. That band is Waterparks. I’ve heard their song “Dream Boy” a number of times already on this station.
Although, that song may not qualify as rock to a lot of rock listeners out there, it’s the closest thing to rock that’s been on this Sirius XM channel that I can remember in awhile.
I personally listen to all kinds of music. I enjoy Top 40 every once in awhile. I have felt bored of it lately though. Maybe others have been too? If so, could the regular rap and pop be dwindling? With Waterparks coming to the game lately, I’ve been more intrigued. Less bored. More excited. Happy to see the scene coming back or at least getting noticed. Let’s hope this is a sign for what’s to come for rock music.
All Punked Up specific news…
As mentioned in previous mailers, one of my next main focuses will be on the allpunkedup.com site. My goal is to give this site a new look and feel. We’re already coming up on 3 1/2 year of the same design, so a new look is overdue in my opinion. My ideas for the new design is something minimal. Nothing too distracting. If you have any ideas, let me know at info@allpunkedup.com. I’d like to know what you like and don’t like about the current site.
Thanks to everyone who has purchased something already from the All Punked Up store! It really means a lot. You all rock! All of the money made from the store goes directly back into the site or into marketing campaigns for both the news site and store. So again, thank you thank you thank you for the support. It means so much.
