Hey, everyone! It’s officially the new year and 2021 is finally here. 2020 was just a terrible way to spend a year. Let’s hope that 2021 is the turnaround we all need. Let’s hope that we get back to a sense of normalcy and can safely be around each other again. On behalf of everyone at All Punked Up, we hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year!
As I mentioned last week, if you haven’t noticed already, we’ve renamed this mailer. We’ve updated it from the All Punked Up Newsletter to The Scene 411. If you’re a listener of our podcast, then you’re familiar with our The Scene 411 segment where we talk about and give our unprompted opinions on recent news from around the scene. The name has sort of grown on me and I wanted to use it here as it just makes sense (to me at least).
Random Thoughts…
It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these. To be honest, with all of the new stuff we’ve been doing, I just haven’t had the time to really sit down and write one of these. For the new year, my goal is to do these more (hopefully every week).
For this week, I want to mention something I eluded to in a previous mailer. You may remember awhile back when, during a podcast recording, I highly recommended that readers of our site go and sign up for this very newsletter. At the time, I said there’s more I want to be doing with this newsletter (adding more content). I also said that the reason I’m encouraging people to sign up for the newsletter now is because there may be some changes coming to the All Punked Up site. I wasn’t willing to spill the beans as to what those changes to the site were going to be, but I think I’m ready now.
So here’s the deal. After 4.5 years of running this site, I’ve spent almost every day/night scouring the internet looking for scene related news to post on our site. After doing this day in and day out, it’s just grown freaking tiring. And to be honest, I just don’t enjoy it anymore—not at all. If I’m being truthful, I haven’t enjoyed it for over a year. I’m definitely of the belief that you should only do things that you love doing. If you don’t love it, why do it? All of the people I follow for business advice recommend the same exact thing. So it’s time to start practicing what I’ve been learning for years.
After starting our new podcast, I’ve come to find out that I’ve just bitten off way more than I can chew. Doing both, the news site and the podcast, has been extremely exhausting. I’ve found during this time, though, that I absolutely love preparing for and recording our podcast episodes.
So long story short, you won’t be seeing as much news on the All Punked Up site going forward. This is somewhat of a scary decision as I know most of you and our followers follow us because of the news. I know this decision won’t sit well with most people, and I may ultimately see traffic to the site and our follower counts across our socials decrease. I’m ok with that. I have to be. Because I don’t enjoy that aspect of our site anymore. And I encourage everyone reading this that you too should stop doing won’t you don’t enjoy. Only do what makes you happy.
So with that, the best way to continue receiving the news from All Punked Up is to stay subscribed to this newsletter. Please tell others to sign up! I have big plans moving forward for All Punked Up and they revolve around the podcast and this very newsletter. This isn’t it for All Punked Up. I feel like it’s just getting started. Let’s continue on this journey together.
Happy New Year, everyone! Let’s get to the news.
The All Punked Up Podcast
No podcast this week as we have taken off the last two weeks due to the holidays. We’ll be working something up for you real soon, however. But, since it’s the new year and all, and this is when people typically make their New Year’s resolutions, I highly encourage you to listen to our most recent episode titled Everyone NEEDS to hear this. This episode was made in hopes to motivate and encourage those who have an idea and/or have goals. It could be the episode you need to hear.
If you aren’t already subscribed or follow our podcast, you can do so over on Apple Podcasts or Spotify or wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts!
Additionally, if you happen to be a fan of our show, it’d be so awesome if you could consider supporting our show and help keep this little independent thing going. And if you can’t monetarily support the show, that’s absolutely fine! Any help in the form of spreading the word is greatly and even more appreciated.
