Random Thoughts…
Ok, I’m definitely right about the scene making a comeback. No question.
For the past two weeks, the newsletter has seen me asking the question: Is the scene making a comeback? followed up by me answering that question with another question: Am I right about the scene making a comeback?. If you haven’t read either post, please do so (linked above) because it has lead up perfectly to this week’s Random Thoughts segment with “Yes, I’m totally right about the scene making a comeback”.
To recap, two weeks ago, I wondered if the scene was coming around as I noticed Waterparks, a band we heavily talk about on the site, being in steady rotation on a Top 40 station on Sirius XM’s Hits 1. Then, a week later, I said “yes, the scene is making a comeback” as it was reported that Waterparks hit number 1 on Emerging Artists charts due to their appearances and push on Sirius XM.
Well this week, with the news of My Chemical Romance reuniting as well as Rage Against the Machine’s return, I’d say it’s looking more and more like it’s time for us to hold on to our seats, because the scene and rock is officially back and it’s only a matter of time before pop punk/emo/rock starts hitting radio stations yet again and being in the forefront of radio listeners’ daily commute.
This is huge, people. If MCR and their team and their fans do this right. The scene could make a push to move pop and rap to the side and be the new flavor music listeners want to taste. It’s time that rock/pop punk makes a comeback. And that time seems closer than ever now.
