News you may have missed! (1/24/20)
It's been a minute, but we're back! Bands, can we stop teasing please?
Hey, everyone?! We’re back for another edition of our weekly mailer. We took a little over a month off from the mailers. We did so because the last few weeks have just been slow for news due to the holidays. The last time you heard from us, we announced our new logo. So if you didn’t read that post, you can do so here.
This week sees me asking bands to stop teasing already. As usual you’ll get your dose of news from the past couple of weeks, a new playlist to listen to and some thoughts I have for All Punked Up. Let’s get to it!
News you may have missed…
Paramore’s Hayley Williams released a new song “Simmer” from her project Petals For Armor
UPDATE: The Curious Case of My Chemical Romance’s U.S. Tour. This band has been doing some serious teasing lately. Obviously a tour is coming and maybe some new music.
Speaking of blink, watch blink-182’s iHeartRadio performance… with Tom’s backing vocals?
Random Thoughts
Bands, could we stop with the teasing please?
You know, I’m all for building a little excitement. But for goodness-sakes, it’d really be nice if bands stop teasing on social media. If you want to tease something for a day or two, go for it. But when the teasing goes on for longer than a week to a month, it really becomes stale. Your fans aren’t idiots. We know you’re either dropping a new song, album or tour. What else would it or could it be? Just shoot it to us straight.
For instance, My Chemical Romance. Look, guys. You’ve reunited. That’s awesome. Welcome back. Your first bit of teasing was perfect. You were teasing a reunion. That makes sense. So you end up doing a reunion show. Great! But then you start doing more teasing. Trying to get us to wonder: is a tour coming? Maybe a new album? A new song? Come on. We know you’re back. It’s obviously going to be a tour announcement. You may even announce a new album along with the tour announcement. But we already know you’re back. We know you’re going to announce a tour. We know you’ll drop new music eventually. So just tell us what is coming first because we already know what’s coming.
So, bands, the teasing in most cases seems like you’re only doing the teasing for you because we, the fans, already know what it’s going to be. You want to build hype and excitement? Don’t be all cryptic. Give us a release date. Tell us when you’re going to make an announcement. Then we actually have something of substance to look forward to.
Featured interview
We interviewed up-and-comers, The Ones You Forgot. Check out the interview below and watch our on-camera personality, Ally Rincon, totally screw up our guests’ names at the end… awkward. That alone is worth the watch.

All Punked Up specific news…
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately with All Punked Up. Specifically, the news site. Sometimes I feel like the news stuff is too redundant and doesn’t offer enough for the site’s visitors. I’d like to offer more. Maybe make coming to the site more enjoyable. But how?
I’ve talked to one of my contributors, Chevy, about possibly adding some type of forum. A place where we could all have a conversation about the happenings in the scene. I really love the idea of this, but need to think through how that would look, what type of overhead we’re looking at in terms of space on the site, and a few other things.
Would this be something you’d be interested in? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Email me at info@allpunkedup.com and let’s discuss.
Have you thought about writing for All Punked Up?
We need your help! Do you have a desire to write about the scene we cover? If so, we’d love to have you join our team! Be sure to fill out our Contributor Inquiry Form here.
