Avril Lavigne's New Album Is Done, May Mark Her Pop-Punk Return
Avril Lavigne has announced that her new album is done and will be out by the summer.
On Saturday, February 6th, Lavigne responded to a fan in the comments section on Instagram sharing that her seventh studio album complete. She writes, "Music coming soon. For sure summer."
It’s also looking like Lavigne may be returning to her rock roots. It seems like every image we’ve seen of Avril in the studio has included some type of rock elements, like her with a guitar or bass, working with Machine Gun Kelly. Heck, even her recent collab with MOD SUN on “Flames” had rock vibes to it. Oh, and that comment to the fan? It included an electric guitar. So there’s that.
Also, the producer of her new album is none other than Goldfinger frontman John Feldmann. He mentioned way back in December that he would be bringing Avril back to her pop-punk roots with this new album.
Get ready!
If you haven’t seen her recent release. Check it out below.
SoundCloud reportedly exploring new fan-to-artist payment system
SoundCloud is preparing to introduce a new payment system that would allow fans to pay artists directly, multiple sources close to the situation tell Billboard, setting what could be a game-changing precedent for the streaming world.
The move would make SoundCloud the first major music streaming service to embrace a direct payment model, a strategy that has been popular with Chinese streaming services like Tencent Music’s QQ Music for years, and one that subscription services like Patreon and OnlyFans have built their businesses around, as musicians and fans around the world clamor for bigger digital music distributors to do the same. A source close to the company says SoundCloud is still exploring several alternative streaming payout models and will announce its plans before the end of the first quarter of 2021. SoundCloud declined to comment.
Foo Fighters and Rage Against the Machine among 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees
The nominees for the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame have been announced. Some of those nominees include Foo Fighters, Rage Against The Machine, Iron Maiden, LL Cool J, Jay-Z, Tina Turner, Mary J. Blige and others.
To become eligible for the Rock Hall nomination, an artist or band has to wait 25 years after the release of their first official recording.
Crazy to think Foo Fighters have been around for 25 years. Dave Grohl is already in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame when he was inducted under Nirvana back in 2014. I think it’s safe to say that Dave Grohl will have his name inducted into the Rock Hall twice soon.
Voting for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is now open until April 30th. The 2021 inductees will be announced in May 2021.
