Our MOD SUN interview + Allegations brought against another band + Yellowcard tour! + NEW MUSIC!
Happy Sunday! This week brings us our sit down with MOD SUN, lots of new music, allegations brought against another band, a Yellowcard tour, and so much more!
Let’s get to it!
OUT NOW: Our interview with MOD SUN
This week, Tyler sits down with one of his favorite artists in the scene right now, MOD SUN. The word “genuine” comes up a few times throughout this interview, and it’s no surprise as this episode will show you that MOD SUN may be the most genuine and real artist the scene has right now. He really wears his emotions on his sleeve and it all comes out unapologetically in his lyrics.
If there's one thing you should come out of this episode with, it's this: MOD SUN has never been one to do things by the book nor has he ever had the desire to be like any other artist for that matter. He is only interested in doing things the way he's always known—his way.
In this interview, MOD SUN talks about taking time to reflect on the steep incline that has been his rise in popularity since 2021, and just being grateful to be in the same conversation of being one of the main acts to help fuel the resurgence of pop-punk.
They also talk about the unconventional rollout of his newly released album God Save The Teen and the risky decision to release the album with no pre-released singles. When it comes to songs on the album, “Single Mothers”, the cover of The Goo Goo Dolls' classic song “Iris”, and "Courtney Fucked Kurt" become the main focus as each has its very own special meaning.
All of that and everything in between was discussed throughout this interview.

ICYMI: Is AI bound to take over the music industry? + Songwriters with big hits make little checks?
How can you like that band or album? This is probably the most controversial episode we’ve dropped so far. And we’re guaranteeing this episode is going to either piss off some scene fans or at the very least surprise them. This week’s question was: Is there an album or band everyone hypes up that you just can’t get into? And let me tell you, we DID NOT hold back. Listen here. And please let us know what bands and/or albums you can’t stand.
Weezer Scores Eighth Alternative Airplay No. 1 With ‘Records’: Weezer's song "Records" has earned the band its eighth No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart. This achievement means that Weezer now has four consecutive No. 1 songs on the chart, and every entry they have made in the chart this decade has reached the top spot. Weezer's eight Alternative Airplay No. 1s ties them with U2 for the seventh-most in the chart's 34-year history, with Red Hot Chili Peppers leading all acts with 15.
Halsey to release solo version of Post Malone’s “Die For Me”: Halsey's scathing rap-sung verse on Post Malone's "Die For Me" from his 2019 album Hollywood's Bleeding received acclaim for its verse of a takedown of a cheating ex. Now, Halsey has announced that Post Malone and Future have granted her permission to release her full version of the song titled "Die 4 Me," which will be available from February 24. Halsey revealed the news on Instagram, adding that she had been performing her verse on tour all summer and had decided to release the full version in response to fan demand.
The 1975 on SNL: Mark your calendars because The 1975 is set to perform on the March 11th episode of Saturday Night Live.
Paramore Blasts to No. 1 on Australia’s Chart With ‘This Is Why’: Paramore's first album in six years, "This Is Why" has reached No. 1 on the ARIA Chart in Australia, marking the band's third chart-topper after Brand New Eyes in 2009 and Paramore in 2013. The album is the band's sixth studio release and follows 2017's "After Laughter," which peaked at No. 3 in Australia. Additionally, "This Is Why" is the only new release to enter the ARIA Top 50, cementing the pop-rock trio's success.
Whoops! Hoobastank revealed they passed on Rihanna featuring on their song": Hoobastank's lead singer, Doug Robb, revealed on Twitter that the band had a version of their song "Inside of You" featuring Rihanna, but they didn't use it for their third album, Every Man for Himself, due to "a total lack of foresight." Robb admits that if they had done a proper collaboration with Rihanna, it might have turned out differently, and they could have used it. However, he believes that it was a lack of vision that prevented them from recognizing the star Rihanna would become. Although Rihanna wasn't yet a superstar, Robb said they remained on good terms with her, and "everything worked out ok for her in the end." Despite "Inside of You" not achieving the same success as their hit "The Reason," it still peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart.
Midtown announce new EP: The band announced that they will be releasing an EP of cover songs on May 26th. On Instagram, they wrote: After we reunited people kept being like- “can y’all release new music?” And we were all “naw we’re too old” - so instead we bring you a collection of old songs that inspired us and we think you should know about. EP DROPS May 26th. The first track is a deep cut by a band we listened to growing up called. We heard "Know It All" on a Fat Wreck comp and never stopped listening to it. The lyrics are as relevant today as when it came out. Click the link in bio to get notified when it drops.
Napster Takes ‘Foundational Step’ Into Web3 With Mint Songs Acquisition: Napster has acquired Mint Songs, a music NFT marketplace, in a move that brings together a music streaming service with a platform focused on creating digital collectibles. The acquisition aims to help artists establish a thriving Web3 presence, as Mint Songs has done groundbreaking work in helping thousands of artists get their start in Web3, reach their fans in new creative ways through collectibles, and unlock new revenue streams. Napster CEO Jon Vlassopulos said the next step for the Napster service is to include collectibles that fans can get as rewards for engaging with artists they love or that they can purchase to collect and share. The acquisition will enable Napster to offer more than just on-demand music and podcasts, which makes the company’s ambitious goals all the more attractive.

Live Nation Antitrust Lawsuit Thrown Out Because Buyers Agreed to Terms of Use: A federal appeals court has dismissed an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster, stating that the plaintiffs had waived their right to sue according to the ticketing companies' Terms of Use. The proposed class-action lawsuit filed in April 2020 on behalf of "hundreds of thousands if not millions" of purchasers claimed that Live Nation's "anticompetitive scheme" was successful and could place nearly all ticketing services for major concert venues under Ticketmaster's monopolistic control. The lawsuit was dismissed by a lower court on the grounds that Live Nation customers had agreed to settle disputes in arbitration, which is generally more favorable to corporations. The plaintiffs appealed, arguing that consumers were being misled, but the appeal was ultimately dismissed.
Crown the Empire Address Abuse Allegations Against Guitarist: Crown the Empire guitarist Brandon Hoover has been accused of domestic abuse by his ex-girlfriend Heidi Ferguson via social media. The band and Hoover have issued public statements denying the allegations and explaining that they have hired an attorney to handle communication between them and the accuser, conducted an investigation that proved the allegations were false, and sent a cease and desist notice to the accuser. However, Ferguson has continued to post about the allegations, claiming that nothing has been ruled in Hoover's favor and that no investigation has been conducted. She also claims that the cease and desist letter sent to her was an attempt to bully her into silence. Ferguson also shared that she did file a police report, but her attempts to follow up with the police were ignored, and she has had no contact with the band except for one "cease and desist" letter sent to her.
