And as we await the festival to kick off, fans are eagerly anticipating new music from the band, and bassist Garrett Nickelsen ensures it is on the way! We had the incredible opportunity to chat with him about all of the marvelous things in store for the band this year.
Aftershock 2023 lineup: Turnstile, Bad Omens, Senses Fail to play. The four-day music festival taking place in Sacramento, California from October 5-8, 2023. The lineup features over 95 acts, including headliners Guns N' Roses, Tool, Avenged Sevenfold, and Korn. Other notable acts include Turnstile, Senses Fail, Bad Omens, White Reaper, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Static Dress, Pinkshift, Badflower, L7, Coheed and Cambria, Deafhaven, and Ithaca. Passes are currently available for purchase on the festival's website.
Jack White responds to "truly awful" tweet about Meg White's drumming. The White Stripes' Meg White has been at the center of Twitter discourse after a journalist called her "terrible" in a now-deleted tweet. Jack White responded by posting a photo of Meg on Instagram along with a poem expressing his admiration for her. The controversy arose as the band was nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility. The journalist, Lachlan Markay, has since apologized for his remarks and deleted his tweets.
Måneskin announce RUSH! 2023 world tour. Måneskin has announced their RUSH! world tour, which will include headlining arena shows in North and South America, Japan, Europe, the UK and Ireland, and Australia for the first time. The tour comes in addition to their ongoing Loud Kids tour in Europe and the UK. Måneskin was also announced for the 2023 Glastonbury lineup. You can check out tour dates here.
Foo Fighters, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold announced for Louder Than Life festival. Louder Than Life festival in Kentucky has announced Foo Fighters, Green Day, and Avenged Sevenfold as headliners for their four-day event. Other performers on the lineup include Weezer, Queens of the Stone Age, Limp Bizkit, Rancid, Tool, and many more. Promoter Danny Wimmer said that these headliners were the most fan-requested bands for 2023. The festival takes place from September 21 to 24 at Highland Festival Grounds at Kentucky Exposition Center. Tickets are available for purchase now.
Spiritbox pull out of Falling In Reverse tour amidst controversy. Spiritbox has canceled their six-date US tour with Falling In Reverse, amid concerns about the band's frontman, Ronnie Radke's behavior. Ronnie Radke has been the subject of various allegations, including abuse, rape, and transphobia, which he has consistently denied. The controversy around his behavior led to an outcry when it was announced that Spiritbox would be touring with Falling In Reverse. Spiritbox deleted all posts about the tour on their social media accounts, sparking speculation that they were withdrawing from the tour. They have since confirmed their withdrawal but have given no further explanation. Falling In Reverse has not yet responded to Spiritbox's announcement.
Panic! At The Disco release video from their last-ever gig. A new video has been uploaded showing Panic! At The Disco's final-ever show on Friday night, with the frontman, Brendon Urie, and his live band heading to the stage at the AO Arena in Manchester. The video includes live footage from the night, and then shows Brendon turning and walking offstage. The caption of the video reads "I’m not crying, you’re crying". After the final night of the Viva Las Vengeance tour, Brendon posted a statement on social media expressing his gratitude to the fans for the last 18 years, and saying he loves them very much.
Fall Out Boy tease “the most ambitious music video that we’ve attempted to make in the past 10 years”. Fall Out Boy is teasing a new single and music video, "Hold Me Like A Grudge," from their upcoming album "So Much (For) Stardust." Pete Wentz shared a teaser from the set of the video, calling it "the most ambitious music video that we've attempted to make in the past 10 years." Fans are speculating that the new video could be a continuation from an old video, possibly a follow-up to the iconic video for "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me.'" The latter was a fan-favorite vampire video from their 2005 album "From Under The Cork Tree." The band's previous ambitious project, the "Young Blood Chronicles," was released in 2014, consisting of music videos for every song from their 2013 album "Save Rock And Roll."
Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra announce co-headline tour. Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra have announced a co-headlining North American tour, The Amplified Echoes Tour. The tour will begin on July 11 at the Big Sky Brewing Company Amphitheater in Missoula, MT, and end on August 26 in Philadelphia, PA at Skyline Stage at the Mann. Middle Kids will provide support throughout the tour. Tickets for the tour are already on sale.
Machine Gun Kelly and Mod Sun named ‘Worse Directors’ at the Razzies. Machine Gun Kelly and Mod Sun have won the 'Worst Director' award at the 2023 Golden Raspberry Awards for their stoner comedy, 'Good Mourning'. The film received almost all the nominations in the award's categories. 'Good Mourning' follows a film star named London Clash, played by MGK, whose life is thrown off-course after receiving a breakup text from his girlfriend. The film has received poor reviews with just 3.1 out of 10 on IMDB and 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Counting Crows & Dashboard Confessional Tour. Counting Crows and Dashboard Confessional are teaming up for the "Banshee Season" summer tour across North America, with shows starting on June 13 and ending on September 25. The tour will include stops in various cities, including PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, and Jones Beach in Wantagh, NY. Adam Durtiz, Counting Crows' frontman, expressed his excitement to tour with his best friend Chris Carrabba, the lead singer of Dashboard Confessional. Tickets on sale here.
Spotify co-president says HiFi is still ‘coming at some point’. Spotify co-president Gustav Söderström has said that even though Spotify HiFi still hasn’t launched, some kind of lossless experience is still on the way. The company announced it more than two years ago, but the industry changed and the launch was spoiled by Apple and Amazon offering lossless music at no extra charge. Spotify HiFi has been ready to go for more than a year, but Spotify doesn't intend to bundle it with its standard plan, like Apple. The launch will likely be part of a more expensive plan that also includes spatial audio/Dolby Atmos and other perks related to audiobooks and podcasts. HiFi “is coming at some point,” said Söderström, but he didn't provide any specific information on when.
Ticketmaster to be more transparent about ticket fees. Ticketmaster has pledged to be more transparent about extra fees added to tickets following recent controversies. In November, the ticketing company faced a well-publicized fiasco related to the pre-sale of Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour, with fans reporting lengthy wait times, website outages, and hyper-inflated prices on resale sites. President Joe Biden recently called on ticketing companies to limit such fees, which can add hundreds of dollars to the cost of a family’s night out. Live Nation’s President and CEO, Michael Rapino, has called for transparent pricing to be mandated and wants to educate consumers and policymakers about the costs involved in the business. The industry has faced multiple issues, including high service fees and expensive artist costs.
Travie McCoy leads “Fuck Tyga” chant for Mod Sun at New York gig. During a recent show in New York, Mod Sun invited Travie McCoy from Gym Class Heroes on stage. McCoy then led a crowd chant of "Fuck Tyga."
