OUT NOW: blink-182 is BACK and so is Fyre Festival…
This week, John and Tyler give their takes on blink-182's surprise reunion performance at Coachella. They also discuss which songs were the best played and which ones they wished the band should've added to the setlist. But before they get to that, they share their thoughts on some new tunes this week. One of those tunes is from Cassadee Pope, and Tyler thinks her return to the pop rock/pop punk world could be a push for the genre. Then the boys round out the episode with news about Fyre Festival getting a sequel. What possibly could go wrong this time?

Fyre Festival II “is finally happening”, says Billy McFarland. Oh boy… Billy McFarland, the co-founder of the disastrous Fyre Festival, has announced the return of the event on social media. McFarland has not provided any further information on the festival’s return. Following his announcement, Twitter users responded with jokes and memes, including one user who asked why McFarland shouldn't be in jail, to which he responded that he served his time and is working to pay back those he owes. The original festival was revealed as a fraudulent event, leaving attendees stranded with poor conditions, lack of food and water. McFarland pleaded guilty to multiple counts of fraud and was released from prison last year. McFarland has since launched a new business venture called PYRT, which involves a treasure hunt in the Bahamas. What could go wrong this time around?

Live Nation Sued By Fans Injured During Stampede at Lovers & Friends Festival In Las Vegas. Live Nation is facing a lawsuit from three attendees of last year's Lovers & Friends Music Festival in Las Vegas. They claim they were injured during a stampede that was triggered by false reports of gunfire, and that the company had "failed to take basic, reasonable steps" to protect them. The two-day festival, featuring several R&B and rap artists, was briefly halted when panicked attendees fled the venue over rumors of gunshots. Police later confirmed that no shooting had taken place. Such lawsuits are common after incidents in which fans are injured at concerts, but are not easy to win. You can read more here.

Hayley Williams: “Ticketmaster Needs to Get Their Shit Together”. Hayley Williams of Paramore criticized Ticketmaster during a show in Cardiff, Wales, saying they need to “get their shit together.” She expressed gratitude to fans who made sacrifices to attend the show despite high ticket costs saying “I wanna say one more time how special it is that you’ve all made it tonight. We don’t take it lightly. We know, honestly, especially now, it’s a huge sacrifice to come to a show because Ticketmaster needs to get their shit together. We’ve put a lot of pressure on ourselves too because we were like, ‘People are spending money that they don’t have to come and hang out with us and we better give them something that’s worth that’. We just love you so much.” Ticketmaster has faced issues like overselling tickets and a lawsuit from Drake. Despite criticism from artists and fans, live music shows continue to draw large crowds. Paramore is currently on tour in Europe, and Williams performed an acoustic rendition of The Cranberries’ “Dreams” during a show in Dublin.

Spotify Courts Broadcasters to Convert Radio Shows Into Podcasts. Spotify has integrated its "broadcast-to-podcast" technology into Megaphone, its podcast ad tech and hosting platform, which will make it easier for radio broadcasters to convert their shows into on-demand podcasts and offer new sources of ad revenue. The technology comes from Whooshkaa, an Australian podcasting platform, which was purchased by Spotify last year. Megaphone will allow publishers to input the URL to a live stream of their broadcasted content and have a podcast created automatically from that programming. The "broadcast-to-podcast" tech will identify ad marker locations, giving publishers the opportunity to remove the original ads and dynamically insert new ad spots in their place. The goal is to expand publishers and broadcasters' reach and to attract those who were previously unable to access Megaphone and the podcast ecosystem.
