An audience of 5,000 attended a COVID-19 live show experiment
As part of a COVID-19 experiment, 5000 people attended a concert in Barcelona on March 27th. Spanish rock band Love of Lesbian played at the Palau Sant Jordi arena which wound up being Europe’s biggest concert since the pandemic began in 2020.
All attendees for the show were tested beforehand with the ticket price including a mask and a free rapid result test. The test results were sent to the attendee through an app on their phone within 10 to 15 minutes. Three of the first 2400 tested attendees had positive test results and were not allowed into the gig.
This experiment is one of many that have been conducted over the last 6 month. The experiment is looking at how successful live music events with no social distancing if rapid testing is employed can be.
I guess we’ll see what happens here.
San Francisco trials giving local artists guaranteed $1,000 monthly basic income
The San Francisco Chronicle writes:
More than 100 San Francisco artists will be guaranteed $1,000 a month for six months under a pilot program set to launch in May, following similar efforts by Stockton, Oakland and Marin County to support struggling residents during the pandemic.
The pilot is open to those working across the arts and entertainment sectors, which includes music, theatre, film, dance, creative writing, visual art, performance art, installation and photography. An income qualification must be met should art teachers and craft workers want to be counted.
Can you say “supergroup”?
Let’s hope this group becomes a thing.
The Used's Bert McCracken and Jeph Howard have joined forces with Sum 41's Dave Brownsound and Frank Zummo to remotely record this awesome cover medley of some Rage Against The Machine classics. Watch the guys play through RATM's 'Guerrilla Radio', 'Bulls On Parade', 'Know Your Enemy' and 'Killing In The Name'.
