OUT NOW: Band names so bad we avoided their music
For this week's episode, John and Tyler talk about bad band names that prevented them from checking out said band. But before that, they discuss the craziness that ensued at a recent Bebe Rexha concert where the singer was drilled in the face after a fan from the crowd threw their phone at her mid-performance. The incident has the boys asking if phones should be banned at all concerts going forward. Additionally, they have a little fun discussing the recent breakup of Avril Lavigne and Tyga.

Spotify overhauls design of its desktop app. Spotify has announced a major redesign for its desktop app, offering easier access to details on the current song or podcast and introducing new ways to organize playlists and content. The update includes a revamped Your Library sidebar on the left of the screen, featuring colorful icons and recently played artists and albums. Users can expand or minimize the sidebar to view entry names and additional details. The interface also includes a search box for searching the user's library specifically. On the right side, Spotify introduces a Now Playing view that provides additional information like tour dates, merch, transcripts, and episode descriptions. The redesign coincides with reports of Spotify preparing to launch a new premium tier, potentially featuring its much-awaited lossless HiFi streaming feature.
Spotify to launch HiFi music streaming in new “Supremium” plan. Spotify is preparing to launch a new HiFi tier called "Supremium" later this year, offering lossless music streaming at a potentially higher price than the current premium plan. The HiFi tier is expected to launch first in non-U.S. markets and may also include access to audiobooks. The launch in the U.S. is targeted for October. Last year, a Reddit user shared details of a survey that mentioned a "Platinum tier" subscription with HiFi music, additional features, and a cost of $19.99 per month. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek suggested that licensing issues caused the delay in launching the HiFi tier, while competitors like Apple Music and Amazon Music have already introduced HiFi options. Despite the new tier, Spotify will continue to offer its regular premium plan, and the introduction of a more expensive option may increase average revenue per user and cater to those seeking lossless music quality.
Gorillaz Cancel Entire U.S. Tour. Gorillaz recently canceled their short tour of the United States, which was scheduled to take place in September. The band cited scheduling conflicts and circumstances beyond their control as the reasons for the cancellation. Ticketing agents informed prospective attendees via email that refunds would be issued automatically at the point of purchase, and the process would take up to 30 days. The tour was set to feature special guests Kaytranada, Lil Yachty, and Remi Wolf, and the band had planned to perform in Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, and Boston. Gorillaz expressed their disappointment in a statement, expressing their love for their fans and their hope to return to performing soon. Prior to the tour announcement, Gorillaz had a notable performance at Coachella in April, where they were joined on stage by artists such as Bad Bunny and De La Soul.
