Will the success of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good For U” be good for rock music?
Bailey and Tyler bring you Episode 42 of The All Punked Up Podcast this week. The two of them kick off the show talking about new tunes released from Meet Me @ The Altar, AVOID, Angels and Airwaves, New Found Glory and Young Culture.
After that, the boys move to their main topic of the show: Will the success of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good For U” be good for rock music? Rodrigo, without a doubt, is making a lot of noise in the pop world and mainstream radio. "Good 4 U" is what some people are calling pop punk. But since the song's release, it's topped different charts across a ton of countries, including the U.S.. At current time, the song has about 360 million streams on Spotify and is doing extremely well as it’s sat at No. 1 for 4 weeks now.
Neither Bailey or Tyler knew what the other was thinking in terms of what the song's success may mean for the rock genre, but they both provide their opinions and discuss what they think is needed to finally bring rock music back to the forefront of mainstream radio.
FYI — The All Punked Up Podcast is planning on taking the next couple of weeks off. We’ll be back with new episodes starting July 12th.
