News you may have missed! (7/31/20)
The Chainsmokers being investigated? 13 lyrics artists didn’t have to go as hard as they did on, 4 easy ways to support your favorite bands right now, and more!
I can’t believe August 2020 is already upon us. This summer has seemed to just fly by. Probably because it has been much of the same for a lot of us. Working from home has just made these days run together. What a crazy time.
With working from home, it has allowed me to keep up with All Punked Up’s expenses in 2020. We’ve done a lot over the past year. August 2020 will mark the one-year anniversary of our online merch store which is crazy. What’s also crazy, is the amount of money it takes to run All Punked Up. From business expenses and fees to hosting fees to shop fees to podcast fees—it all adds up. And it adds up quick. We are only half way through 2020 and the numbers aren’t easy for me to look at. Let’s just say, All Punked Up has not even come close to profitable this year.
I’m not sharing this information because I want sympathy for All Punked Up. I definitely don’t want that and don’t expect it whatsoever. I never like asking for monetary help, but I do ask, if you like All Punked Up and if we’ve ever brought you any value, I do ask that you please consider purchasing something from our shop if you see something you like. We don’t make a ton of revenue off of those purchases, but any profit we can make sure does help. And I assure you, the money that All Punked Up does make, goes right back into the company to pay fees and expenses—the things necessary to keep an independent news site and brand like this to keep going and not shutting down. Plus, with any purchase from the store, 10 meals get donated to fight hunger!
I am only sharing this in this newsletter because I promised this newsletter would share thoughts from me (the owner of All Punked Up) and let you know of the behind-the-scenes happenings of this business.
But enough about that, let’s get to the news!
Podcast News
We plan on recording Episode #004 next week. Our goal for the podcast is to have a new episode for you every week! The format will be much like Episode #001 from here on out (discuss news from around the scene and play a game). If you missed that episode, you can check it out here.
I would also like to start showcasing bands who may be under the radar and who want to maybe promote a song. I’ll have to figure out how to pull this off the right way, but it’s something we all want to do.
