Mod Sun addresses Avril Lavigne break-up + Taylor Swift entering emo phase + Sex at festivals + NEW MUSIC
Hey! Welcome back to another mailer. We took last week off as there just wasn’t much news due to the holiday. And unfortunately, the same holds true for this week. My guess is that the news for next week will be much better. However, I was still able to pull a few things out from the week that is worth sharing.
So let’s get to it.
OUT NOW: Taylor Swift entering emo phase + Sex at festivals + Mod Sun addresses Avril Lavigne break-up
On this week's episode, we review two new songs from Taylor Swift featuring Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams, as well as, Fall Out Boy's cover of "We Didn't Start the Fire" and Mod Sun's new song "Strangers" which addresses him and Avril Lavigne's failed engagement. We also talk about how there seems to be an epidemic of fans being completely stupid at concerts. Finally, we talk about sex at festivals because apparently, it's happening A LOT.

To build anticipation, the band has released a lyric video for their recent single 'Bad Blood.' Lead guitarist Ben Bruce describes the album as the culmination of the band's entire journey, incorporating elements from all their previous records. Fans can expect a range of influences from their earlier albums, such as the synth-tinged breakdown from 'Stand Up and Scream' to 'See What's On The Inside.' Thematically, the album explores topics of loss, struggle, hope, and inner strength.

Nothing But Thieves Achieve Their First-Ever Number 1 Album With ‘Dead City Club’. Nothing But Thieves has achieved their first-ever UK Number 1 album with "Dead City Club." The band, hailing from Essex, had previously come close with their albums "Moral Panic" and "Broken Machine" reaching third and second place respectively. Expressing their gratitude to the Official Charts Company, frontman Conor Mason and the band thanked their fans for the overwhelming support throughout the years. Early figures indicated that Nothing But Thieves had a good chance of securing the top spot, but competition from Fontaines D.C. frontman Grian Chatten's solo debut and Elton John's popular greatest hits album "Diamonds" posed a challenge. The band's achievement is further noteworthy as ‘Dead City Club’ is a concept album that deviates from their usual rock sound, incorporating '80s synths and melodies, showcasing their artistic vision.
Autographed Kurt Cobain Guitar Pick the Most Expensive Ever Sold? A signed and illustrated guitar pick that once belonged to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was recently sold at an auction for an impressive $14,678. The guitar pick is not only signed by Cobain but is also believed to be one of the earliest authentic Nirvana signatures, dating back to 1990, just after the release of their debut album ‘Bleach’ and before Dave Grohl joined the band as their drummer. The pick was obtained after Nirvana tracked demo recordings for their breakthrough album ‘Nevermind’ in 1991. The auction, organized by Iconic Auctions, concluded on June 10th. The guitar pick's provenance indicates that it was acquired in April 1990, along with other signed Nirvana memorabilia, during a week when the band was recording at Butch Vig's Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin. While this guitar pick holds the record for being the most expensive one sold, it's worth noting that other Kurt Cobain-related guitar gear has also fetched substantial prices in the past.
