Newsletter update + Goodbye, songs on TikTok 👋🏻 + Could Netflix be home to future live music events?
Episode 201 is here and it's officially our first show as Unplugged with Tyler Winters and John Pearman.
What’s up, everyone?! It’s been awhile since we’ve sent out a newsletter. And truth be told, I’ve taken a bit of a break as I’ve been in the process of doing some restructuring of the All Punked Up brand. Along with the restructuring, I’m considering a re-branding of this newsletter to go along with our recent re-branding of The All Punked Up Podcast. So hang tight and we’ll get back to our regular weekly newsletter once I’ve figured out more of what I want to do — this will be very soon.
Rest assured, the newsletter will not change much content-wise if at all.
As mentioned above, The All Punked Up Podcast has re-branded as Unplugged with Tyler Winters and John Pearman. It’s the same show, just a different name. However, I feel like the new name will allow us to do more with the show while also opening us up to interviews with more artists.
But since you’re here for the news, this week’s episode is packed with it.
Goodbye, songs on TikTok 👋🏻 + Could Netflix be home to future live music events? + Apple wants to pay artists 10% more for streams?
For this week's episode, we bring back an OG co-host of The All Punked Up Podcast, Ally Rincon. We discuss her brand new EP and make her talk about new music and news with us.
Speaking of news, here's what we talked about. After acquiring the streaming rights to WWE's Monday Night Raw, we ponder whether Netflix could also become the future home of live music events. We then move the news about Apple paying artists more per stream as long as they have a spatial audio version of the song being streamed. Is this a good thing for artists? Finally, we round out the news with all of the TikTok drama that saw some of the most popular songs removed from the platform after they were pulled by Universal Music Group. We've got all of the deets. So tune in below!
Listen to Ally's (Drive-In) new EP Location Scouting.
As always, thanks for listening!
