Though news of their label departure and show cancellations sparked concern, Paramore is officially here to stay. In a new statement, they announce their exciting plans as "freshly independent" artists, including headlining Record Store Day 2024.
In an Instagram post, the band shared, "After a long career in the music industry, we have decided to announce that... we are going to continue to have a long career in the music industry (sorry for any inconvenience).
“Our first order of business as a freshly independent Paramore is to shine a light on independent records stores — a vital part of our journey from music obsessed school friends to professional music makers.”
Paramore emphasizes the importance of the physical music experience: "The discovery of music was always meant to be romantic," they write. "Indie record shops offer a tangible, tactile experience of music discovery." In a world feeling increasingly disconnected, "it feels important to remain in touch (literally) with what inspires us, empowers us, or simply brings us joy."
The band concludes with a powerful message: "Thankfully, for all our sakes, there still survives among the chaos, the purity and radical simplicity of a great record store."
So, Paramore fans, fret no more, as the band is here to stay. Perhaps we are now seeing them entering an era where Paramore owns the Paramore name and can freely write the rest of the band’s story.
