Alexa's expertise spans the spectrum, from being in bands of her own to being the in-demand director who has shot for Journeys, Hopeless Records, Fearless Records, and countless independent artists. After a five-year hiatus, Alexa is back and ready to bless fans with her solo project SAN ROMAN.
SAN ROMAN is a culmination of years of musical experience and at the same time a fresh start for the singer. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is ready to show the world what she can do.

Q: How has your previous work in the industry and your musical journey brought you to where you are today? "I've definitely come a long way from where I started in my musical journey haha. I grew up in bands with multiple members where the songwriting took place in a room with everyone spitballing ideas together, from there I moved into working closely with one other person as a songwriting duo so collaboration is something I feel very comfortable doing. Taking a stab at writing a solo album was a little bit scary at first but something I did feel like I was finally ready for. It's very rewarding and almost surreal to hear songs that are 100% my own mind." Q: What is your favorite lyric from your latest single “Messy”? "Definitely the bridge of the song, I feel like it really brings home the message I'm trying to convey. 'When my world fell down around me, I caught fire but I'll be fine.'" Q: If you could describe your music style in 3 words, what 3 words would you use and why? "Emotional, introspective & sarcastic. I guess these kind of touch on mostly lyrical content... "emotional" because whether it's a slow song or an aggressive song it's always coming from an emotional place... "introspective" because I write mostly about personal experience and growth...and "sarcastic" because sometimes you just gotta laugh." Q: What are some of the challenges you face when trying to record songs as the only bandmate? "Well, as much as I'd love to play every instrument, I call upon many of my talented friends to help me. Whether it be tracking drums on the album or playing a live show, I have an amazing circle of musicians who show up to help me perform my music! Shout out to Brando Hom, Jackie Kalafut & Holly Desautels for showing up to the studio and tracking some instruments on the record." Q: What has inspired your latest music? "This record really centers around a very transforming time in my life and is heavy with topics like grief, loss and growing older. Nostalgic elements are sprinkled all over the album as I was super introspective while writing this. I went through some big changes and lost a bunch of family members which pushed me into the headspace where this record was created. I also met my partner during this difficult time so there's also a silver lining to everything as well." Q: What can fans expect in the near future from SAN ROMAN? "Some more singles from the record are definitely on the way... along with the entire thing itself before the end of the year! Who knows, maybe even a live show!" Q: What advice do you have for someone who has a musical background but doesn’t know how to jump into things? "Create your art however it comes out of you naturally! Social media is at your fingertips, create any way that you can and post it online for others to connect with it. Genuine emotions conveyed in music always bring out genuine reactions from listeners. <3" Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share with our All Punked Up readers? "Keep up with me and the new record on my instagram @alexasanroman. Find me anywhere you stream music under SAN ROMAN."
