SeatGeek adds features to help fans resell tickets at the best price
How do you feel about this?
Ticketing platform SeatGeek is simplifying the ticket resale experience for users with three new features: Smart Pricing, Seat Perks, and Bulk Listing.
Smart Pricing utilizes machine learning to recommend an optimal price for your ticket, considering historical sales data, weather, seat location, and even last-minute factors like player injuries or artist popularity.
"This is similar to what businesses in the online retail space already do," says Serge Derby, senior product manager at SeatGeek. "We want to help resellers find the right balance between price and speed of sale." Users can choose from three suggested options or set their own price.
Seat Perks automatically highlights any special features associated with specific seats, such as food and beverage credits, club access, or prime location.
Bulk Listing allows users to list tickets for multiple events at once, saving them time and effort.
These features are currently in beta testing for select users and events, with a wider rollout planned throughout 2024. While the Bulk Listing option might raise concerns about increased competition for buyers, SeatGeek emphasizes its commitment to fair pricing and customer satisfaction.
"Our goal is to make selling tickets easier for everyone," says co-founder Russ D'Souza. "These new features empower fans to list, price, and sell their tickets efficiently, ensuring another fan can enjoy the event."
Editor thought: Say what you will about re-selling tickets, but there really is no difference when comparing what scalpers and SeatGeek are doing to what Ticketmaster currently does with their dynamic pricing system. Does this now make scalping ok? I mean, this essentially is just a push for an accepted way of scalping, right?
