Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan gets reality show, NWA streams head to The CW
NWA has landed a major deal with The CW, bringing its wrestling programs and a brand new reality show starring Smashing Pumpkins frontman.
The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) has landed a major deal with The CW, bringing its wrestling programs and a brand new reality show starring Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan to the network's free streaming platform.
This "all-encompassing partnership" announced on Wednesday, February 21st, will see The CW stream NWA's flagship program "NWA Powerrr" and other content free of charge, expanding the organization's reach and accessibility.
But the biggest draw might be the reality show. Co-produced by Corgan's own company, Lightning One Inc., and Nacelle Company, it promises an "unprecedented vignette" into Corgan's life as NWA President, musician, and family man. Expect glimpses into his "day job", presumably referring to his music career, alongside his wrestling endeavors.
"The CW has made a big commitment to sports, and they have an incredible platform," Corgan said in a press release. "This partnership gives us the opportunity to reach a wider audience and show there are other voices in professional wrestling."
He emphasized NWA's "honesty, integrity, and swagger," comparing it to the spirit of rock 'n' roll. "With The CW behind us, we're pulling NWA into the light where fans can appreciate its authenticity."
Beyond the reality show, fans can expect The CW to stream the entirety of NWA's programming and past events, including content from the upcoming Hard Times 2024 event in Alabama.
This move marks a significant step for NWA, potentially introducing a new generation of fans to the organization and its unique brand of wrestling. Whether you're a longtime NWA supporter or curious about its gritty, underground style, The CW's free streaming platform offers a chance to dive in.
