Spotify introduces Showcase: A tool for artists to promote their music in Home feed
Spotify has recently unveiled Showcase, a powerful new tool designed to enable artists to directly promote their music within the streaming platform's revamped Home feed. This feed holds the most prominent position for advertising within the Spotify app, with billions of streams originating from it each day. Showcase allows artists to create a mobile card that appears as a sponsored recommendation on listeners' mobile Home Screen, significantly increasing exposure.
According to Spotify, users who encounter a Showcase promotion are six times more likely to stream the featured release. Artists have the option to customize their mobile cards with attention-grabbing headlines, such as "new music," "recently released," "release anniversary," and "getting buzz." The banner showcasing the artist's work will be prominently displayed at the top of Spotify's Home.
Initially, Showcase will be available to artists and their teams with U.S.-based billing who have garnered at least 1,000 monthly streams within the last 28 days in one of Spotify's target markets. In the coming weeks, the feature will be made available to all U.S. artists through the Spotify for Artists dashboard.
Spotify's default setting will display Showcase campaigns to a broad audience likely to stream the release. However, artists have the flexibility to customize their campaigns and target different types of listeners, ranging from their most dedicated fans ("super listeners") to more casual listeners. Spotify indicates that campaigns require a minimum budget of $100 and will run for 10 days or until the budget is exhausted, whichever comes first. Pricing for campaigns may vary based on factors such as the target audience and market.
