Guitarist Zach Grant wrote the lyrics for this song. "Daydreams" represents mental health struggles he has dealt with over the past few years. The catchy line “Every night I wake up and every day I dream” depicts the oxymoron of life he was facing. The band discusses the meaning of the song in an interview with All Punked Up:
“It felt like every day I was in a dream and every night I would wake up and not be able to sleep because of intrusive thoughts of my past. There was one night where I did finally fall asleep and I ended up talking to my own subconscious, which projected in the form of my ex from high school. She said, ‘the ocean turned to fire.’ I interpreted that as meaning anger had consumed my life, which it had… Music was my only outlet for my emotions, and so I channeled that rage and confusion into songwriting.”
Television Supervision, also known as TVSV, is from Tampa, FL and is currently signed with Standby Records. Check out the rest of their interview with All Punked Up here.
