The Beatles to receive four biopics focusing on each member
Sony Pictures has secured the rights to the project, aiming for a comprehensive release in 2027.
Acclaimed director Sam Mendes is set to helm a groundbreaking project: four interconnected biopics, each focusing on a different member of The Beatles. The films, garnering full approval and musical rights from the band itself, will offer a unique perspective on the Fab Four's story.
As reported by Deadline, Mendes will not only direct all four films but also produce them alongside his Neal Street Productions partners Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor. Notably, Jeff Jones, CEO of The Beatles' company Apple Corps Ltd., joins the production team.
"Apple Corps is thrilled to collaborate with Sam, Pippa, and Julie to explore each Beatle's unique story and bring them together in a captivating and innovative way," Jones expressed in a statement. He further praised Sony Pictures' support, highlighting their "enthusiastic support" for the project's vision.
Sharing the excitement, Harris stated, "We intend this to be a uniquely thrilling, and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time." She concluded by acknowledging the privilege of having The Beatles' and Apple Corps' blessing for this ambitious endeavor.
Several key details remain to be determined, including the actors who will portray the iconic band members and the screenwriters who will craft the individual narratives. With Mendes at the helm, the search for talent is sure to be intense, as these roles will undoubtedly be highly coveted.
This innovative biopic series marks the latest addition to the cinematic portrayals of The Beatles. In 2021, Peter Jackson's eight-hour documentary "The Beatles: Get Back" offered an intimate look at the recording sessions for their "Let It Be" album.
Mendes' four-part biopic promises to be a groundbreaking cinematic exploration of The Beatles, offering a fresh perspective on their individual journeys and their collective legacy. The wait until 2027, when all four films are slated for release by Sony Pictures, is sure to be filled with anticipation for this highly anticipated project.
