Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing model will be bad for the touring industry
Disclaimer: Unfortunately, something went wrong with John's audio this week due to a recording error with the provider we use. After a ton of editing, this was the best Tyler could do. It's not that bad, but it sounds like John is in a really echo-y room. We totally apologize for this as this is not the type of quality we want to deliver. But nonetheless, we still wanted to bring you what was on our minds this week.
Last week was absolutely huge for pop-punk as you all remember the blink-182 and Tom DeLonge reunion was made official with the announcement of new music and a new world tour. Well, this week tickets went on sale for that tour and because of how Ticketmaster is doing ticket pricing (which is what they call Dynamic Pricing), it’s causing a lot of uproar in the scene. We’re going to talk about this and I’m going to say ahead of time before we start talking about it: This is something that CANNOT work long-term in its current form. It’s a real problem now and will cause more. But we’re going to talk about this in detail because John and I have some thoughts on this as I’m sure you do too. But on a lighter note, we’re also going to be talking about Shaq and his mosh-pit record, Garbage’s Shirley Manson shitting in her partner’s breakfast, and how birdsong is the way to help anxiety. Who knew?
