On Friday Feb. 9, The Foundry Concert Club in Lakewood OH, hosted Jukebox Breakdown Is For Lovers, which essentially meant a Valentine's Day themed Emo Night DJ'd by J.T. Woodruff, lead vocalist of Hawthorne Heights.
The event, like all Emo Night Cleveland parties, was age 21 and over. The crowd that came out was large, so large that the venue hit capacity within roughly an hour of it even starting. Even with the large amount of people, The Foundry kept everything running smoothly and the drinks flowing. Including specialty emo drinks named after songs such as Blink - 182's "Feeling This."
In true Valentine's Day spirit, carnations were being sold at $2 a piece to be handed out later in the night to emphasize the genuine feel of V-Day.
J.T. Woodruff spun the Emo Night playlist keeping the crowd energized with tracks by Three Days Grace, The Starting Line, Fall Out Boy, Say Anything and even Panic! At The Disco's cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody," all with the usual DJ, Amanda Schill by his side.
Schill, kept Emo Night goers entertained in between songs with ticket giveaways to shows for Architects, Coin and PVRIS and an Alternative Press Swag Bag. Fans of New Years Day and State Champs were also surprised by guest appearances from Ashley Costello and Tyler Szalkowski.
To keep the night even more memorable, photographer Andrew Wells, set up a V-Day themed photo booth complete with a Jukey backdrop and cute props. From heart antennas to paddles with hearts glued to them with sayings like "Still Into You" and humorous ones such as Pete Wentz, Brendon Urie and Gerard Way's faces plastered on them along with others featuring Hayley Williams. Other sayings included "Emo," "Alone 4ever" and "Left on read," keeping the Emo themes very present. Attendees could get their picture taken alone, with their significant other or with a group of friends for free.
You can see all of Andrew Wells' photos from the night now, and the one I got taken right here!
All in all it was a great night. Make sure to follow Jukebox Breakdown on Twitter to keep updated on their events in Cleveland, if you're around or live in the area you should stop by!
