Live Nation postpones spring tours due to coronavirus
With the cancelation of movie releases, all major sporting events, and concerts, Live Nation is postponing all spring tours due to the severity of the coronavirus.
In just the last few days alone we've seen that Coachella has been postponed until October, Broadway has gone dark until further notice, and the MLB has pushed off its season. A source from Billboard has said that the company is urging their touring staff to return home. As of March 11th president of Live Nation, Joe Berchtold, was reported saying that they are looking for an alternate plan for major stadium and arena tours. The company is working with the CDC, and local officials in the areas to figure out a plan of attack. Live Nation wants to do everything they can to move forward with scheduled tours and keep their artist employed.
It seems that the virus is causing widespread cancellations for all entertainment events, and these cancellations are happening rapidly. With that being said, the company has already instructed its cooperate staff to work from home.
With an update released today, March 12th, 2020 Live Nation will put a pause on events internationally for the remainder of the month. As April approaches Live Nation will look back into continuing tours with the hopes of resuming by May or June.
